Is there anything that can stop the transmission of noise from a wooden deck into a house?
We live in a rowhouse that extends deeper into our lot than our neighbors' house. Their deck is attached to back of their house and the side of our house, and noise on the deck surface transmits excessively through our wall (cinder block and plaster). They scrape chairs and rattle around, and the sound waves reverberate through our house seemingly amplified (scraping chairs sound like humpback whale calls). Is there any soundproofing that we can do to stop this noise?
throw away some chairs, and get some pillows. I do beleive dragging chairs across the deck is worse of violation than laying rubber on your drive way

I have all porcelain ceramic tiles throughout the house. Can they get scratched with furniture??
I have all porcelain ceramic tiles throughout the house. Can they get scratched with chairs / beds and other furnitures sitting directly on top of the porcealin ceramic tiles? If we move / slide chairs will it harm the tile? I believe these tiles are rated either 4 or 5 in the toughness scale.
Why shouldn't we walk on it with shoes?
porcelain does scratch. I don't know that anything that says it's toughness will keep it from scratching altogether. There are things you can buy to put on the bottom of your furniture, dressers, tables, etc. that is like soft rug on the bottom, slides easily, and doesn't scratch when you move things. I suspect you and your visitors will be wearing socks to walk on this flooring so keep a mat at the door for shoes..

Well I'd give it about a 6 right now mainly because of the switch in tenses (a lot). It would sound much better if you kept it all in past tense and the grammar needs some work. The idea itself is interesting and has potential. It just needs a little more developing and editing.
First of all, I'm not crazy about 'You know the one.' It's distracting when a writer addresses the reader like that and it makes me think – how the heck do you know what I know? Don't do it. You don't need 'hence my little rant.' Watch run-on sentences (and you don't need 'yet again').
She pushed her disobedient blonde curls out of her eyes and smiled at me. One of her front teeth was already under the pillow for the tooth fairy to come tonight.
'You try saying…' Unless the character is talking to someone in the story or writing a letter or diary entry, this tears me out of any momentum you've built. I don't know any 4 year olds.
'Emily rolled her big, brown eyes.' Keep it in past tense since you already started in past. 'I took a chair…I rolled my eyes.' Don't start a sentence with And. 'The doorbell rang and I looked…' 'A guy stood there' not their. I'm also not sure how she can see him? You don't need 'so I did' because when she hears his feet, that's obvious.
Not bad, just in need of editing and maybe a little more detail and dialogue between the MC and Emily. It's good but it just needs a little more oomph. Good luck working on it! Hope I helped.
