Problem with a house just purchased.?

My girlfriend just bought a house. It was in foreclosure. The bank owned it. We looked at the house before the mortgage owners moved. We inspected the house, everything was in working order. It took them almost a week after the closing to move. They did not get out before the utilities were switched, so they had free electric and water for almost a full week. They claim that their agent told them that they could rent the house, even though we made no such offer.

We were very polite and patent with them.

They threw away the mail keys, took the garage remotes, the light bulbs from the chandeliers, and some of the breakers from the breaker box. They also shoved a rag up the chimney flu. Why would they do this?

You cannot, and should not try to figure out their motivatio for trashing the house before you moved in. You should focus on your remedies.
First, After closing, they were tresspassing. You are the legal and rightful owners of the house.
Second, their agent is just that, a person working for their interest, not yours. He has no obligation to you. Apparently you were not represented by either a lawyer or agent.

Solution- not nothing your country or state, you can go after them criminally as tresspassers. File a criminal complaint and swear oout an affidavit that you have knowledge of the former owners being in your house, that they willfully caused damage and explain what you witnessed at your inspection and at your move in.

Good luck. If the former owners have assets you can go after them in a civl action also.
