What method and baits can i use for my fishing match?
I am naturally a carp fisherman but i have recently been asked to fish a match for my school.
I am using a float rod. It is a british water containing the species of, perch; roach; carp; bream. I need to know what baits are best to use, i can make baits as well so please leave me handy recipes. I will probably use maggots as a hook bait, although i am open to suggestions. Thanks alot, i would also appreciate a method of how to fish it, i am thinking of fishing mid-water as it will be the end of april and just sprinkling maggots over the top. Thanks once again
hi i started the other way round to u! coarse and match fishing for 15 years then taking up carping, as you may well know u can catch bream, tench and small carp when your going for the big uns! so if your confident with your carping just scale everything down. if its a high stocked commercial fishery you can catch on nearly all baits. maggots, casters, worms, corn, meat, pellets, paste, cat food, bread, mixers etc etc so take a selection of all to swap and change. try flavoring all your bait, bet you have carp flavorings or glugs if you do use them as well they dont just work for carp! when your in the match dont just fish 1 spot, feed 3 different lines try out in front at 10 - 15 meters as most matches are fished with poles and the fish get used to being fed at that range so try and find underwater features like drop offs, shelves etc and try your margins, start out in front but still feed your margins for later in the match, you will find you get bigger fish there! (catmeat chunks are my fave in margins) dont pile the bait in just do little and often untill you get them feeding well, you can then start on the bottom and work up through the water layers to find the fish if you get no luck, try light lines and small hooks 2 - 4 lb bottom and 22 - 10 hooks, if you can get to where your match is, go and check it out ask around see what is catching if you can fish it get some practice on there, hope this helps good luck and tight lines.

The 'Method Feeder Rig'?!?
I have my rod, my reel, mono-line, now all i need to know is whats all the other stuff i need to add on so i can make a Method Feeder rig. I don't know what any of the clips are called or beads or even the brown line, i know you need a Method feeder thats all.
Basically what i'm asking is what components do i need to get so i can make my own Method Feeder rig... clips, swivels etc
